How to measure better
Use a flexible measuring tape and keep it close to the body without squeezing. The person should stand naturally and wear light clothing.
For clothes that already fit well, measuring the garment flat can be easier. Compare with the store chart when it lists garment measurements rather than body measurements.
What to save besides the number
- Brand or store when the item fit well.
- Fit: tight, relaxed, runs large or runs small.
- Preference: longer sleeve, high waist, shorter hem.
- Last review date, especially for children.
Charts, brands and fits vary. Measurements reduce doubt, but try-ons, returns and fit preference still matter.
